Foolish Things Christians Believe: My Past Is Not Fatal day 3

Thank God It’s True!

And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43 NLT

We don’t know much about the thief on the cross next to Jesus, but I bet those are words he didn’t ever dream of hearing. If he had ideas of making life work on his own terms, well clearly he had lost that battle.Very likely he was recognising the impossibility of cleaning up the debris he was leaving behind. The release of forgiveness must have been quite a surprise.

That’s how it works. We hear this good news and suddenly Jesus has given us a new vision of life. We have a new identity. We take on the characteristics of Jesus, his love, his mercy, his rightness. It’s a long journey, but the first step is the gift of forgiveness.

Meditate on this thought from 2 Corinthians 5:21 and insert your name. That means; read it repeatedly, let your mind sink into significant words, and pay attention as the Holy Spirit gives you a profound understanding of the truth of God’s grace.

For _______ sake God made Jesus to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Jesus ________ might become the righteousness of God.
