Several Trinity members have joined Lutheran Church Charities and are going on their third week of emergency response to the recent hurricane in Florida.  The whole team has been received graciously by the church family of Lakeside Lutheran Church in Venice, Florida.  Offering up showers in their homes and help with food assistance for the volunteer teams.  

This past week, thanks to the Trinity Family’s donations of gift cards, Trinity member’s Skip Sorenson and Kent Worrell were able to install a new water heater for a widow.  To assist other members of the community, Jan and Ed Boerman, along with Skip and Kent, were able to clear debris from a porch and packed up salvageable belongs.  Many in the area are physically unable to do that kind of labor, and it’s apparent that the recovery of that community will take place over a long time to come.

The chainsaw team is working hard too!  Many share similar stories of lost homes.  The population in the area is mostly older. Even in “normal” times, many live on the bare minimum, often having to focus on affording medication instead of property insurance.  

Please continue to pray for the people and all the volunteers in the area as the recovery will be long and hard.
