The Storyteller: The Unjust Judge and the Widow day 3
Daily Faith
“However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8b
Have you ever crammed for a final exam? The test date, time and location are
fixed. Perhaps you haven’t studied regularly during the semester and are getting a little panicky. But now you stay up all night and pound the material into your brain. Perhaps you’ll remember enough to get that desperately desired grade.
The parable of the persistent widow (Luke 18:1-8) opens with the goal that we will always pray and not lose heart. The widow pleads daily for justice from the unjust judge and finally receives it. Jesus poses how much more will our loving Father give us justice and speedily? He sees that justice out in the coming days in Jerusalem, on a cross.
God is faithful. Wait for it.
Jesus closes the parable with the question of our faithfulness in the waiting. The Son of Man comes to us every day of our lives. Will he find faith in us today or excuses about intentions for last days cramming? One day, He will come in glory to judge the living and the dead.
Pray with confidence in the King and His Kingdom among us. Pray with a faithfulness that reflects His faithfulness. Pray firm in His promise to be with you always, to the very end of the age.
