Teach Me to Pray Forgive Us Our Trespasses Day 2

Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Praying with Another’s Words

Here is a formal prayer of confession. As you read it, pause and fill in the truth of your day and situation.

Heavenly Father,

I am a nothing but a poor sinner pleading guilty for all sins. I have lied as if God did not matter and as if I mattered above all. You name I have not honored as I should. My worship and prayers are feeble and erratic. I have not let your love have its way with me, and so my love of others has failed. There are those whom I have hurt, and those whom I have failed to help. My thoughts and desires have been soiled with sin. What troubles me particularly is that…

I am sorry for all of this and ask for grace. I want to be more like Jesus.

Now hear God speak to you...

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3:17 ESV

Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”  John 8:10–11 ESV
