Teach Me to Pray Lead Us Not Into Temptation Day 1

Keeping a Prayer Journal

And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10: 13 (NIV)

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4: 7 (NIV)

We live in a world driven by materialism, that provides many forms of temptation. We often have unfettered access to most of these traps that requires us to exercise a greater control of our day to day lives. Even Jesus was not spared of temptation. Satan tempted Jesus with promises of satisfaction, materialism and egoism. Rebuked by Jesus, Satan departs only to wait for a more opportune time.(Luke 4:13) As an ever-faithful father God does not let you suffer temptation beyond your capacity. With steadfast prayer and watchfulness, trust God to provide a way forward through temptations. Through the power of the Spirit and the blood of Jesus Christ, there is redemption from the evil bent within us all.

Use your prayer journal as an effective aid in your battle against temptations. Add entries to your prayer journal when you encounter new temptations. Pray for strength to effectively deal with these temptations as a transformed child of God. Notice when repetitions occur and speak confessionally with a trusted faith-filled friend or mentor and join in further prayer. When you periodically review your journal entries, remember to offer thanksgiving and praise for temptations overcome. Pray for continued grace and strength for deliverance in coming days.
