Take It Home Resolute in Worship Day 5

Being resolute in worship means giving myself as God’s agent.

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1 ESV

Resolute, unswerving, steadfast, determined worship is not confined to an hour or so once a week. It embodies everything about who we are and what we do. Paul is urging the Romans to understand how their relationship with God goes beyond rituals of blood and death. A living sacrifice is marked in life for the purposes of God. Who you are, your skills, your time, your passions all get rolled together by the Holy Spirit into a gift package for God’s use in the community of faith and in the expansion of the Kingdom. The Spirit has plans just for you that will be a blessing of God’s presence, an opportunity for worship, in another life.

Write out a prayer of dedication placing yourself to serve at the pleasure of the Newborn King. Describe your skills and passions asking the Spirit to guide your development and use of who you are for God’s Kingdom. Ask for a resolute heart that does not doubt your usefulness to God. Ask for clear opportunities to love the people the Spirit sends into your path. Ask to be shown what new step should be taken in an area of service you’ve grown accustomed to. Persevere in listening for God’s answer to this prayer through the next few months.
