Lord Teach Me to Pray Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread Day 1

Keeping a Prayer Journal

Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7 NIV

There is no place in the universe where human life could thrive apart from Earth. Our Lord has provided the ideal environment where life can sustain on this planet. These ideal conditions have not only been provided for the believers, but also for everyone. It is essential to thank our Lord for this blessing. “Our Daily Bread” not only means food, it also includes all our essential physical and emotional needs. While our Heavenly father knows and provides for our essential needs, asking for our essential needs leads to thanking the Lord for the boundless gifts provided us so freely.

Use your prayer journal to not only remember your wants, but also to effectively improve your daily thanksgiving as the Spirit grows a heart of gratitude towards God for all things. Label your journal entries as Thanksgiving and Needs. When needs are met adjust the label.

  • Thanksgiving -Log the essential needs that are given to you in plenty. Do not neglect to thank God for his good creation such as the sun, oxygen and weather cycles and seasons that are often taken for granted.
  • Needs - Log urgent needs and the desires of your heart. Remember the needs of people in your daily life, in our society or in our world who may lack such essential needs

When you have a good sense of your needs and thanksgivings, share them with your family and small group and add entries for theirs to your journal.
