God's Invitation

Yada-sq

God invites you to become involved with him in his work.

Memory Verse: “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Philippians 2:13 (NLT)

Day 1
Memory Verse: “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Philippians 2:13 (NLT)

The delicate balance of teaching or parenting is holding back just a little explanation or not yet acting, until the right moment when the student or child wants and needs to know more! At that time, the questions and the will to find out or solve the problem easily come. It’s a sweet spot between the desire to do and the power to do.

Where do you feel that fire in your life?

  • As you return to memorize this verse daily take a moment to think about the desire of your heart that day and how God is shaping it.
  • Identify the most meaningful word from God today.
  • Re-word that into a prayer.
  • How will you actively respond?

Day 2
Jeremiah 18:6

O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand. (NLT)

A potter kneads the clay beating out air bubbles that would explode in the heat of the kiln. Before that kneading process, the clay is too stiff to shape.

  • How have you yielded to God’s shaping in your life?
  • Confess how have you resisted or protested, ‘I’m not ready.’
  • Pray through your roles as parent/child, sibling/friend, leader/colleague and ask God to show you how he’s shaping you as a vessel to serve others.
  • Identify the most meaningful word from God today.
  • R-eword that into a prayer.
  • How will you actively respond?

Day 3
Matthew 6:10

Your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. (ESV)

Where God’s will is, there is his Kingdom. There is heaven come to earth. We can be blinded by our own plans instead of understanding God’s heart.

  • How do you pray in agreement with his desires?
  • How do your activities, habits, responses, and culturally taught values demonstrate the alignment of your will and God’s will?
  • What adjustments and shifts are needed?
  • Identify the most meaningful word from God today.
  • Re-word that into a prayer.
  • How will you actively respond?

Day 4
Luke 5:4

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” (NLT)

Rather than just reading or hearing, most of our neural pathways are laid by experience. As humans we learn by doing – including from making mistakes.

When have you better understood God after experiencing something?
Sometimes our learned pathways need to be rewired. When has God redirected your life through an experience?
Identify the most meaningful word from God today.
Re-word that into a prayer.
How will you actively respond?

Day 5
Matthew 8:21

Another follower said, “Master, excuse me for a couple of days, please. I have my father’s funeral to take care of.” (MSG)

God is more eager to reveal his will, than we are to receive it. We want God to be reasonable, but God sometimes calls us to act in ways that seem foolish or hard to the rest of the world. Delaying obedience is choosing to be disobedient.

  • What have you been hesitant about?
  • Are you ready to leave behind your self-made obstacle?
  • How might your relationship with God deepen with quick obedience?
  • Identify the most meaningful word from God today.
  • Re-word that into a prayer.
  • How will you actively respond?
