Advent: Watching for Jesus Day 4

Advent 1 2017

Day 4 – Watching and Waiting with Joy.

The people ransomed by the Lord will return.  They will come to Zion singing with joy.  Everlasting happiness will be on their heads as a crown.  They will be glad and joyful.  They will have no sorrow or grief.  Isaiah 35:10 GW

Jesus came to the earth as a baby and He is coming again.  As Christians, this brings us inexplicable joy.     Martin Luther says it so eloquently; “The heart overflows with gladness, and leaps and dances for the joy it has found in God. In this experience, the Holy Spirit is active, and has taught us in the flash of a moment the deep secret of joy. You will have as much joy and laughter in life as you have faith in God. “

We tend to think of watching and waiting as passive but this is not true.  The Holy Spirit is active in us.  Our watching and waiting needs to be active and executed with joy.  The joy of Christ’s love for us needs to be shared with those around us.  As we watch He invites us to actively seek those who are in need.  The light and joy of Christ that shines through us can dispel the darkness and bring true joy to others.  While we joyfully wait, continue to love those He brings in your path.
