Adjust Your Life

Yada-sq

Memory Verse:

“Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. 24 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” Luke 9:23–24 (NLT)

Day 1

Luke 9:23-24 “Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” (NLT)

Making adjustments can sound like a call to stop and give up, but the core of it is to pick up and move. We also hear in this verse the concept of turning. Look back on God’s activity in your life and see the wisdom of the turns he has guided you through. Identify how these have added and expanded your ability and availability to serve His Kingdom even if in the moment it felt like a personal failure.

What personal plans are you currently frustrated with?
How will you adjust them to let God have the lead?
Identify the most meaningful word from God today.
Reword that into a prayer.
How will you actively respond?

Day 2

Ephesians 3:20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. (GWT)

Your plan, in God’s eternal perspective, just may be a bit puny. Don’t get enamored with it when God is nudging you toward something that He wants to pour power into. Adjust and open wide!

What plans of your own do you honestly feel should impress God?
What do you honestly feel God is asking you to adjust and give Him a free hand?
Identify the most meaningful word from God today.
Reword that into a prayer.
How will you actively respond?

Day 3
Romans 12:1
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. (NLT)

The Old Testament describes sacrifices as “an aroma pleasing” to God (Lev. 1:13, 17), an image we can identify with when the neighbor’s grill is operating. Like dropping that steak on the heat of the flames, putting something on the altar means you have to let go of it.
What have you let go of in the past and come to see that God was pleased? Consider an attitude you held or perhaps your use of time.

How did God share His satisfaction with you?
What do you value most?
How can you completely trust Jesus with that?
Identify the most meaningful word from God today.
Reword that into a prayer.
How will you actively respond?

Day 4
Isaiah 54:2,3

“Enlarge your house; build an addition.
Spread out your home,
and spare no expense!
3 For you will soon be bursting at the seams.
Your descendants will occupy other nations
and resettle the ruined cities. (NLT)

Expectation! Room-busting roof-blowing expectation! That’s what God asks of us in our adjustments. You may think of adjustment as something you do after a failure. God makes adjustments a record setting win.

How has God’s presence expanded your life? Consider an expansion of your heart or your horizon or your sphere of influence.
How are you making room for God to do greater things in and through you?
Identify the most meaningful word from God today.
Reword that into a prayer.
How will you actively respond?

Day 5
Joshua 10:8
The Lord told Joshua, “Don’t be afraid of them. I have handed them over to you. None of them can stand up to you.” (GWT)

Sometimes people stand in our way. We get intimidated or bend under the influence of other world views. The confidence of knowing you’re joining God’s work is firm footing. Even a detour can bring growth. Fear is doubt stirred up by Satan.

Is someone causing you to doubt God?
What specifically is blocking your participation in God’s work?
How can you join God’s work right at this point despite the blockage?
How will your life and work be joined to his work, and his Kingdom?
Identify the most meaningful word from God today.
Reword that into a prayer.
How will you actively respond?
