Over the centuries human beings have struggled to find meaning in life. Some teach that life is random – that our existence is by chance, that our DNA formed at random, that someday the universe will go dark and nothing we have done will really matter. Some seek meaning in great acts of heroism, fame, or wealth. Some seek to find meaning in beauty and simple acts of love and kindness. But all this – whether great or simple, eventually is forgotten and lost. Even one of the wisest people of all time, at a low point in his life, wrote these words: “Meaningless, meaningless. Everything is meaningless.”
