Take It Home The Perfect Christmas Gift Day 1

What is it?

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:10–11 ESV

Sometimes you take off the wrapping and things are not crystal clear. My father was well known in the family for reusing boxes, so the printing on the box was not necessarily what was inside the box. Sometimes the gift needs some explanation from the giver’s perspective. What were they thinking? The angel gives the shepherds some clarifying tips about God’s Perfect Christmas Gift – Jesus.

The gift is a Savior – Jesus is meant to meet a crucial need. Better than Christmas sweets, He is The Life Saver! Without this gift, we are stuck with no hope. What a gift it is to know that God rescues us from our worst mess!

The gift is the Christ – Without getting into Greek/Hebrew terminology and centuries of longing, let’s just cut to the chase, Jesus is God’s promise kept. What a gift it is to know that God keeps His promises!

The gift is the Lord – Yes, God gives himself wrapped in a baby. This maybe the hardest part of the gift to comprehend or reason our way through, but it’s the part that fills us with the wonder that is Christmas. What a gift it is to have God’s love walk tangibly into our lives!

Unwrap - reflect on each of these details of your Perfect Christmas Gift and praise the Gift Giver.
