Not only has Jesus paid the price for our sin by dying on the cross, but His forgiveness assures us that He is not angry towards us. He wants the best for us. He seeks to fully restore us. As we revisit the charcoal fire conversation in John 21, we see that while Peter may still be pining on his past, Jesus is hyper-focused on pointing Peter towards the future. Jesus restores the original call He placed on his life. Not only does God forgive you, but God loves you. Through God’s forgiveness, your identity is secure.
