A Good Kind of Different

Scripture: 1 Peter 4:1–19

Too often we look for comfort in the physical pleasures and pursuits of this world, but Peter is pretty clear that this is a road to nowhere. Jesus has set us free from the old ways of living. As such, Christians are called to live curiously different kinds of lives; ones in which we endure personal hardship for the sake of others, extending love, hospitality, and service toward others. We live not as people driven by the passions of the flesh, but by new life in the Spirit. While this might look strange to the world, it ultimately puts on display where true life and joy are found. It is a good kind of different that helps people see that lasting joy and fulfillment comes when they “entrust their sounds to a faithful Creator while doing good."
