Being a Christian is not about joining some kind of holy huddle, separated from the world. God’s grace is not given to us only for our good, but for the good of others. “Through Jesus, God is building a community of believers who will bring glory to His name.” This section of 1 Peter is rich in theological language that points us to the fact that the church is meant to be the people through whom God is bringing His blessings to the whole world: we are a new nation, a new priesthood, and a new temple. We are the ones who are supposed to point others to who our God is.
