Week 2 - The Truth About Anger - TGT

September 11, 2016 Speaker: Dan Grissom Series: Songs of the Heart

Topic: Psalms Scripture: Psalm 109:1–31, Romans 5:8–9

Anger is often seen as destructive. But what we see in Psalm 109 is that, like all the emotions, God can use anger to teach us something. First, it teaches us something true about ourselves: namely that anger and a desire for vengeance is the natural reaction of a human being when they have been wronged, hurt, and betrayed.

The second thing we learn is something true about our world. And it is this: anger alerts us to the fact that there truly is something called “right” and something called “wrong” The very fact that we are angry highlights the reality that there are injustices in the world that we rightly cry out against.

And the third thing Psalm 109 shows us is that, as angry as we may be, God is moreso. In fact, because of his love, God is rightly angered by human wickedness and sin. Furthermore, he promises to judge it in the right time and in the right way.
