As parents and as a congregation we have dreams for the children God has placed in our care. Parents often want their kids to grow up to be happy or safe or successful. Maybe even famous. Churches want kids to be well behaved and safe. Maybe even to have good morals and make good choices. But God has a bigger dream for our kids! He wants them to have the full, abundant life that Jesus earned for them… for now and for eternity. He wants them to have a spirit “not of fear but of power and love and self control.” He wants them, as George Barna put it, to be “spiritual champions.” How can we as parents, as a church family, and together be used by God to see this happen in the lives of children?
