For modern people, the idea of sacrifice is a strange one. And yet, for ancient people sacrifice was a part of everyday life. It was a way to appease the gods and address their sins. Furthermore, for the ancient Israelites, it was even more humane because, unlike the cultures around them, they didn’t offer human sacrifices. But then there’s the story of Abraham and his son.
