Holy Week Worship Schedule
Join us on a journey as we retrace Jesus's steps, beginning with his triumphant entry into Jerusalem, his trial and execution, and finally, the empty tomb and his Resurrection on Easter. Throughout the week, we offer special services designed to help us immerse ourselves in the story and gain a fresh perspective on these significant events.

Jesus as the Lord Who Sends

December 30, 2018 Speaker: Mike Curtis Series: Before Bethlehem

Scripture: Isaiah 6:1–6:13, John 12:41, Matthew 28:18–28:20

The prophet Isaiah is given a glimpse of the throne room in heaven. He sees “the Lord” seated on the throne, the hem of his robe filling the temple. The angels praise him, and Isaiah falls to the floor in fear because he knows he has seen the King, the Lord of Hosts.

John later tells us that this vision of Isaiah’s gave him a glimpse of Jesus himself before his incarnation. John wrote, “Isaiah saw his (Jesus’) glory and spoke of him.”

But Isaiah did not just see Jesus… Jesus spoke to him. He asked, “Whom shall I send and who will go for us?” Isaiah quickly replies, “Here I am. Send me!”

Just less than a thousand years later John would stand before that same Jesus… this time on a hill outside of Jerusalem. Even though Jesus is not seated on a throne, he reminds him, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” He then sends John and the other disciples, just as he sent Isaiah.

This same Jesus says to you and me, “Go, make disciples…”
